Softball Gives Up Three Solo Home Runs In 3-0 Loss To Murray State

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky University’s softball team gave up three solo home runs in a 3-0 loss to Murray State University on Sunday in the regular season finale for both teams.  With the win MSU takes the series two games to one.

The Racers (32-19, 19-11 OVC) got on the board with a pair of solo home runs in the top of the fourth.  Casey Castile hit a shot over the left center field fence.  Two batters later Ellyn Troup sent one straight down the left field line.

Castile added a second home run in the seventh inning.  It was a solo shot over the left field fence.  Castile finished 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.  Troup finished 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI.  Shelby Kosmecki (12-11) combined with Chelsey Sullivan and CheyAnne Gaskey to shutout out the Colonels.  Kosmecki allowed one hit, one walk and struck out three in four innings of work.

Three different players had one hit each for Eastern (27-28, 16-13 OVC).

The Colonels will begin play in the 2012 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament on Thursday in Martin, Tenn.
