Gameweek: EKU Wraps Up Non-Conference Schedule in Palmetto State

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University football team will pack its bags for its farthest road trip of the season this Saturday as the Colonels face Big South foe Coastal Carolina. Game time in Conway, S.C., is set for 6 p.m.

This is the first ever meeting between the two teams. This is also the only scheduled meeting between OVC and Big South teams this season. It has been 10 years since EKU (1-1) last faced a Big South opponent. That year, the Colonels rallied for a 35-28 overtime win at Liberty (Nov. 2, 2002).

Senior quarterback #T.J. Pryor# had a successful debut last weekend versus Morehead State. Pryor, who missed the first game with an injury, completed 13-of-22 passes for 148 yards and a touchdown. In his last four starts, Pryor has thrown only one interception. EKU’s marks for rushing attempts (63) and time of possession (41:46) against the Eagles were the highest in five years under head coach Dean Hood.

Coastal Carolina (2-0) is coming off a thrilling 47-45 triple-overtime win against Furman. Senior quarterback Amaris Hillary threw for two touchdowns in the extra sessions while junior wide receiver Matt Hazel tallied seven receptions for 128 yards and one score. Meanwhile, senior defensive back Dontavius Johnson notched three interceptions in the season opener versus North Carolina A&T. The Chanticleers were picked to finish third in the Big South this fall.

Coastal Carolina is scheduled to visit Roy Kidd Stadium in 2013.
