RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University football team will go for its third consecutive win this Saturday when the Colonels travel to Southeast Missouri. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
Saturday's game can be seen exclusively on ESPN3.
Eastern's (4-3, 2-1 OVC) defense has been rock solid over the last two games. The Colonels have held their last two opponents to a combined 33 yards rushing. EKU leads the OVC and rank fifth nationally in rush defense (93.4 yards per game). Meanwhile, Southeast Missouri (1-6, 1-3) ranks seventh in the league in rushing at 155.6 yards per game.
On offense, EKU's young wide receivers put up big numbers in last week's win over Tennessee Tech. Sophomore
Jeff Glover and redshirt freshman
Devin Borders piled up eight receptions for 132 receiving yards. Glover, who is still looking for his first collegiate touchdown catch, threw a 29-yard scoring pass to tight end
Ike Ariguzo versus the Golden Eagles.
Even though Southeast Missouri has just one win this season, the Redhawks' offense has come alive over the last two weeks, scoring more than 30 points in both those contests. In the 37-34 overtime win over Murray State on Oct. 12, SEMO put up season highs in total yards (469) and rushing yards (222). The Redhawks lead the conference in fewest penalty yards per game (33.1).
Eastern Kentucky has dominated the all-time series in Cape Girardeau, winning 10 of 11 meetings on the road. Last season, quarterback
Jared McClain came off the bench to lead EKU on three scoring drives in a 31-7 win. McClain finished the game with two rushing touchdowns and 8-of-11 passing for 138 yards.
Following this game, the Colonels return home to host Tennessee State on Saturday, Nov. 2.
