EKU Announces busy Week Of Basketball Activities, Including 2013 Basketball Hoopfest


RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University will hold several basketball related activities this week (Oct. 29-31), including the annual Basketball Hoopfest event on Wednesday, Oct. 30. Fans can enjoy free pizza and t-shirts while a lucky student will win a $300 shopping spree and free pizza for a semester.

Hoopfest will give fans their first opportunity to see the EKU men's and women's basketball teams in action. The men's team is picked by nearly every media organization to win the Ohio Valley Conference this year and make the program's third NCAA Tournament appearance since 2005. Fans will also get a chance to see a Lady Colonel team coming off an 18-win season and a postseason tournament appearance featuring all-conference performer Marie Carpenter.

Tuesday, Oct. 29 – Basketball Tip-off Rally
- 5:30 p.m.
- Gillum's Sports Lounge
- Head coaches Jeff Neubauer and Chrissy Roberts will discuss the upcoming season

Wednesday, Oct. 30 – EKU Basketball Hoopfest
- 6 to 8:30 p.m.
- Alumni Coliseum
- FREE pizza
- FREE t-shirts for the first 500 fans
- A lucky student will win a $300 shopping spree at the EKU Bookstore and free pizza for a semester from Papa John's
- Introduction of the teams
- Three point shootout contests
- Dunk contest
- Autograph session
- See the new state-of-the-art video board

Thursday, Oct. 31 – Halloween Hoe Down (CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER)
- 6 to 8 p.m.
- Downtown Richmond
- Players from both teams will hand out candy and meet with fans

All events are free for everyone.
