RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team will host Ohio on Saturday at McBrayer Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
EKU (2-2) is averaging 91.5 points-per-game on its home floor so far this season. The Lady Colonels overpowered their first two home opponents, Alabama A&M and Davis & Elkins, but will likely find Saturday's foe to be more of a challenge.
Ohio (2-0) defeated EKU, 69-58, last year in Athens and has already scored wins over Xavier (94-88) and Morehead State (64-56) this season. The Bobcats will face last year's national runner-up Louisville on Thursday night before travelling to Richmond.
EKU's
Marie Carpenter is the reigning Ohio Valley Conference Co-Player of the Week after averaging 25.0 points-per-game in three games last week, including a career-best 41-point performance versus AAMU on Thursday. The senior from Nashville enters Saturday leading the OVC in scoring (25.6 points-per-game) and three-pointers (22).
Carpenter's backcourt mate, senior
Pilar Walker, ranks fifth in the OVC in assists-per-game (4.6).
EKU, as a team, leads the conference in field goal percentage (44.7) and three-point field goal percentage (39.5).
Kiyanna Black paces the Ohio offense to the tune of 21.5 points-per-game.
EKU leads the all-time series between the two programs, 3-2; however, the Lady Colonels have not defeated the Bobcats since 1982.
Following Saturday's contest, EKU returns to action at the Southern Miss Thanksgiving Tournament in Hattiesburg, Miss. over Thanksgiving weekend.
