RICHMOND, Ky. – For the first time in almost a month, the Eastern Kentucky University men's basketball team will play at home when the Colonels host North Carolina A&T State University on Wednesday.
Tipoff at McBrayer Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m. The live radio broadcast of the game is available in the Richmond area on WCYO 100.7 FM, and can be heard worldwide on EKUSports.com. A live video broadcast of the contest is available on OVCDigitalNetwork.com.
On Saturday, Eastern (7-4) led fourth ranked University of Wisconsin early, but the Badgers used a 21-3 first half run to pull away in an 86-61 victory.
Glenn Cosey had a game-best 21 points for Eastern. He made 7-of-14 from the field and 5-of-5 from the free throw line.
Orlando Williams scored 13 points off the bench.
EKU has had leads at North Carolina State, Virginia Commonwealth and Wisconsin this season but have dropped all three games. The Colonels had double digit leads against the Wolfpack and the Rams.
Cosey leads Eastern Kentucky, and ranks third in the Ohio Valley Conference, with an average of 19.5 points per game. He has scored 20 or more in six of the team's last eight games. The senior guard is fifth in the league with 4.6 assists per contest.
North Carolina A&T (3-7) returns just two starters from last season's team that beat Eastern Kentucky 78-67 in Greensboro, finished 20-17, won the MEAC Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Those two starters are 6-foot-3 senior guard Lamont Middleton (12.4 ppg and 4.1 rpg in 2012-13) and 6-foot-7 forward Bruce Beckford (8.2 ppg and 4.5 rpg in 2012-13).
Richaud Pack, a 6-foot-3 guard, leads the Aggies this season with an average of 17.8 points per game. He transferred from Florida International. Middleton is second on the team with an average of 16.9 points per contest. Beckford averages 11.9 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.
NCA&T lost at East Carolina, 84-71, on Saturday. Pack led the team with 20 points, but made just 5-of-13 from the field. Beckford had 17 points but only three rebounds. Middleton added 16 points. The Aggies had 39 rebounds, including 20 off the offensive glass but ECU shot 50 percent from the field.
EKU has the third best turnover margin in the country (+7.2). North Carolina A&T turns the ball over four more times per game than its opponents. Eastern Kentucky has allowed its three most recent opponents to hit 31 three-pointers and shoot 50 percent from deep. The Aggies have hit just 34 percent of their three-pointers this season.
EKU has held its opponents to 66.5 points per game. North Carolina A&T averages 67.3 points per contest. Both teams have beaten Longwood this season. NCA&T won 85-78 at a neutral site. The Colonels won on the road 76-67.
