RICHMOND, Ky. – Tennessee Tech pitcher Taylor Ketchum limited the Eastern Kentucky University softball team to two hits as the visiting Golden Eagles took the rubber game of the three-game series Saturday afternoon, 5-1.
The Colonels (19-14, 6-4 OVC) have now dropped four of their last five games overall.
TTU (13-14, 2-3) scored first in the third inning behind a two-out RBI double from Madison Taylor.
Eastern responded in its half of the third with an unearned run.
However, Tennessee Tech took the lead for good in with a pair of runs in the fifth thanks to three EKU errors. The Golden Eagles added two insurance runs in the sixth which included a bases loaded walk by Hannah Eldridge.
Ketchum (10-5) won two games in the series for TTU, giving up only two earned runs in 12 innings pitched.
Sophomore pitcher
Leanna Pittsenbarger (12-7) took the loss for the Colonels. She was charged with all five runs allowed in five-plus innings pitched.
Eastern Kentucky is back in action next weekend with doubleheaders at Murray State (April 6) and Austin Peay (April 7).
