RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University softball team looks to keep its spot on top of the OVC East Division this weekend when the Colonels host Tennessee State. The two teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m., and a single game Sunday at 1 p.m.

Eastern (23-16, 10-4 OVC) has won five straight meetings over Tennessee State (11-27, 2-10) dating back to 2011. In those five games, the Colonels have averaged almost nine runs per game.

Against OVC opponents this spring, Eastern Kentucky ranks third in the league in hitting (.303) and first in both home runs (16) and stolen bases (23). Freshman Sarah Fobbs has five home runs in conference tilts while senior Carissa Reisinger is perfect in stolen base attempts (5-of-5).

The Colonels sit fourth in team ERA versus OVC foes at 2.67. Sophomore pitchers Leanna Pittsenbarger and Shaylon Robb have combined to start 13 of the 14 conference games thus far. Pittsenbarger is 6-2 with a 1.68 ERA against OVC competition. Meanwhile, Robb is 3-2 with a 3.06 ERA.

Tennessee State has dropped five straight games overall, including four league games, while scoring a total of three runs. Jennifer Givens paces the squad in batting average (.383), on-base percentage (.445) and stolen bases (16). Shea Morris, TSU’s number one pitcher, is 7-14 with a 3.45 ERA.
