RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University softball team returns to action this weekend at Murray State on Saturday and Austin Peay on Sunday. Doubleheaders are scheduled for both days with first pitch slated for 1 p.m. ET.
Eastern (19-14, 6-4 OVC) enters the weekend with a slim lead over Jacksonville State (19-16, 5-4) in the OVC East Division. However, the Colonels have lost four of their last five games overall including two of three to Tennessee Tech last weekend. Eastern Kentucky has been held to three or fewer runs in all five of those games.

Katie Tackett (.500) and freshman
Kayla Joyce (.400) are among the league leaders in batting average in OVC contests. Sophomore pitcher
Leanna Pittsenbarger ranks third in the conference in ERA (1.51) and strikeouts (47) against league foes.
Murray State (12-18, 5-4) was swept by Eastern Illinois one weekend ago. Offensively, the Racers are led by Alexa Becker who ranks second in the OVC with seven home runs. Shelby Kosmecki has made 18 starts as pitcher and carries a 5-12 record with a 3.69 ERA.
Austin Peay (10-16, 1-7) hosts Morehead State on Saturday before welcoming EKU to Clarksville on Sunday. The Govs have lost 11 of 12 overall entering their doubleheader against Morehead State. APSU ranks last in the OVC in pitching ERA (4.59) and eighth in hitting (.265).
Following the weekend road trip, the Colonels return home for a doubleheader against No. 21 Kentucky on Wednesday, April 10.
