RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University softball team concludes the regular season this weekend with a three-game home series against OVC rival Morehead State. Saturday will feature a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m., while Senior Day festivities are scheduled prior to the start of Sunday’s single game at 1 p.m.

The Colonels (32-18, 17-6 OVC) will enter next weekend’s OVC tournament as either the No. 2 or No. 3 seed. No matter what happens this weekend, EKU will post its best conference finish since finishing third in 2008.
Catcher
Katie Tackett is hitting .413 (33-of-80) in conference games with eight home runs and 23 RBIs. Four other key EKU players are hitting better than .300 against league foes including freshman
Sarah Fobbs (.348), who also has produced eight homers in OVC games.
Pitcher
Leanna Pittsenbarger (19-8) has won her last three starts overall while striking out 31 batters. The sophomore’s ERA in conference action is just 1.65.
Morehead State (24-21, 10-12) currently sits in eighth place in the overall OVC standings, but has won four of its last five league games. Infielder Amber Riddle paces the Eagle offense with a .389 batting average, nine home runs and 40 RBIs. Katie Pfost is the team’s top pitcher with a15-11 record and 2.66 ERA.
EKU leads the all-time series against Morehead State, 45-23, and won all three games against the Eagles in 2012.
