NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After opening Ohio Valley Conference play with a win on Friday, the Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team came up short of a weekend road trip sweep, falling at Belmont 3-0 on Saturday.

The Bruins (8-10, 1-1 OVC) won by scores of 25-22, 25-15 and 25-18.

Alexis Plagens had a match-best 13 kills for Eastern (7-9, 1-1 OVC). Dena Ott tied for a match-high 14 digs. Scarlet Gable and Allison McCoy each had 10 kills for Belmont.

Belmont posted a .248 attack percentage while EKU hit just .056. The Bruins out-blocked the Colonels 11.5-4.

The Colonels play at rival Morehead State on Wednesday. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
