RICHMOND, Ky.
– Head coach Chrissy Roberts and the Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team will travel to in-state and Ohio Valley Conference rival Morehead State on Saturday. Tip is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. at Johnson Arena.

EKU (8-6, 2-1 OVC) will look to bounce back after having its five-game winning streak snapped in a 75-71 loss at Eastern Illinois on Tuesday. It was the Lady Colonels' longest winning streak since the 2004-05 season.

Eastern nearly staged a miraculous comeback in the loss to EIU, at point scoring 10 points in just over a minute to pull within one with less than four minutes to play.

Senior Marie Carpenter, the OVC's second-leading scorer at 21.6 points-per-game, led the Lady Colonels in the loss with 20 points and moved past former teammate Alex Jones to No. 14 on EKU's all-time scoring list (1,293 points). Carpenter enters Saturday's game four three-pointers shy of tying the EKU career three-pointers record (170). She has knocked down four or more three-pointers in a game 14 times in her distinguished career.

Saturday's game will pit the OVC's two best defense against each other, as EKU allows only 63.7 points-per-game while Morehead State allows only 66.7 points-per-game.

The Lady Colonels will particularly have to guard the perimeter, as Morehead State leads the OVC in percentage of points scored from behind the arc (36.4). EKU, by comparison, scores 22.0 percent of its points off three-pointers.

Morehead State (8-7, 2-0 OVC) comes into the weekend hot. The Eagles have won four straight games, including two conference victories over Eastern Illinois and SIUE.

Terrice Robinson paces the MSU offense at 18.3 points-per-game.

This will be the 85th meeting between EKU and Morehead State. The Lady Colonels lead the all-time series, 43-41, and have won three straight games over the Eagles.

Following this weekend's game, EKU returns home by hosting Jacksonville State on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 4:00 p.m. ET.
