RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University soccer team will kick off Homecoming Weekend with a rare 1:00 p.m. Friday game versus Ohio Valley Conference foe Eastern Illinois.
The game was moved to 1:00 p.m. to accommodate the Presidential Inauguration Ceremony, which begins at 4:30 p.m. at the EKU Center for the Arts.
Eastern (3-13-1, 1-6-1 OVC) fell to first-place SIUE, 3-1, last Sunday on Senior Day at EKU Soccer Field. Sophomore
Cassie Smith scored her team-leading sixth goal of the year off an assist from junior
Mikala Ferguson in the defeat. Freshman goalkeeper
Anna Hall, meanwhile, made eight saves and now leads the OVC in that category with 107 on the year.
EIU (3-12-2, 1-6-1 OVC) enters the weekend having dropped three straight conference games, including a 2-1 overtime loss at home to UT Martin last Sunday. Meagan Radloff has scored four goals and dished out four assists to spark the Panther offense this fall.
The Colonels are 3-7-0 all-time versus the Panthers, but have won two of the last three meetings in the series. EIU defeated EKU, 1-0, last year on a Radloff goal in the 87
th minute.
EKU will have this Sunday off before concluding the regular season with a Halloween spooktacular versus in-state rival Morehead State on Friday, Oct. 31., at EKU Soccer Field. First touch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
