COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Almost a week after losing at home to Tennessee Tech, Eastern Kentucky went on the road and beat the Golden Eagles 3-1.
Set scores were 25-19, 17-25, 25-23 and 25-11. EKU improved to 17-9 overall and 7-2 against Ohio Valley Conference teams. Tech fell to 10-15 this season and 5-4 in league matches.
A trio of Colonels helped the visitors tally 53 kills.
Rachel Vick led the way with 15. She made only one error in 38 attempts for a robust .368 attack percentage to go along with a three blocks.
Alexis Plagens had 12 kills.
Ally Peters added 12 kills, six digs, two blocks and two aces.
Eastern's
Dena Ott led all players with 33 digs.
Cody Dodd finished with a match-best 16 kills for Tennessee Tech.
Eastern Kentucky had seven more kills, seven fewer errors and out-blocked the Golden Eagles 6-5. The Colonels had nine aces, but also had eight service errors.
Eastern will conclude its two-match conference road trip on Saturday at Jacksonville State. The match is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. ET.
