Colonels Suffer First OVC Loss, Fall At Murray State

MURRAY, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky's volleyball team suffered its first Ohio Valley Conference loss of the season on Saturday, falling 3-1 at Murray State.
 
Set scores were 25-20, 22-25, 25-16 and 26-24 in favor of the Racers.
 
Freshman Celina Sanks led the Colonels (13-7, 3-1 OVC) with 12 kills.  Alexis Plagens finished with 11 kills and a team-high 15 digs.  Ally Peters and Rachel Vick each contributed 10 kills.
 
Trailing 2-1 in the match, Abbey Cvelbar's kill gave EKU set-point in the fourth, 24-23.  However, the Racers (12-4, 3-1 OVC) scored the next three points, including back-to-back kills by Taylor Olden, to finish off the match.
 
Scottie Ingram had a match-best 24 kills for Murray State.  Olden finished with 17 kills and 11 digs.
 
The Racers held a .275 to .185 advantage in attack percentage and finished with 16 more digs than Eastern.  Both teams committed seven service errors.
 
After playing its previous 11 matches away from McBrayer Arena, EKU will play host to Southeast Missouri on Friday and Tennessee-Martin on Saturday.  Friday's match-up with the Redhawks is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
