RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University football team wraps up its OVC schedule Saturday afternoon with a home game against league-rival Murray State. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
The game can be seen for FREE on the
OVC Digital Network.
Fourteen seniors will be playing their final regular season game at Roy Kidd Stadium Saturday. The senior class helped EKU capture the 2011 OVC title and compile 29 victories over the last four seasons. The 2014 senior class includes LB
Blake Atzinger, OL
Dustin Crane, FB
Dana DePassio, FB
Channing Fugate, LB
Tyrelle Johnson, DB
Ja'Tyuan Landing, PK
Andrew Lloyd, LB
Khiry Maddox, QB
Jared McClain, DB
Theron Norman, LB
Chris Owens, TE
Dan Shepherd, DB
Brandon Stanley and RB
Caleb Watkins.
Saturday's game will showcase a major contrast in offensive philosophy. The No. 18 Colonels (8-2, 5-2 OVC) rank third in the conference and 11th nationally (FCS) in rushing at 234.6 yards per game. On the other hand, Murray State (3-7, 1-5) leads the OVC in passing offense (306 yards per game) and passing touchdowns (28).
A win over the Racers would give Eastern nine wins for the first time in seven years under head coach
Dean Hood. It would also keep the Colonels in contention for an at-large bid to the upcoming 24-team FCS playoffs.
Eastern Kentucky leads the all-time series against Murray State by a count of 43-26-4. The two teams have met every year on the gridiron dating back to 1945. Murray State broke an eight-game losing streak to the Colonels with a 34-27 overtime win a year ago.

Eastern's single-season record for scoring average was set in 2002 at 32.0 ppg. Meanwhile, EKU's rushing average of 234.6 yards per game is the program's highest since 2001.
--Senior QB
Jared McClain needs 28 more passing yards to move into 10th place on EKU's all-time passing list. McClain currently has 3,112 yards passing and is on the heels of Greg Couch's (1993-97) mark of 3,139 yards. The native of Hiram, Georgia completed a personal-high 19 passes in last week's game against Jacksonville State.
