Jasmine Henshaw led the way with 14 points and 11 rebounds as the Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team pulled away late to defeat visiting Pikeville, 75-59, in an exhibition game on Wednesday night at McBrayer Arena.
EKU led by only five, 62-57, with less than four minutes to play in the game, before sophomore

Alexus Cooper for a breakaway layup that gave the Colonels a double-digit advantage with 2:02 on the clock.
Back-to-back layups by sophomores
Amadi Brooks and
Nicole Bowers and a three-pointer by Brooks sealed the win for the Colonels.
Henshaw provided a steady presence in the paint all night for EKU, shooting a perfect 7-for-7 from the field to record her first-career double-double. Fellow forward
Shelly Harper also had a big night, scoring 13 points, gabbing six boards and dishing out five assists.
Brooks finished with eight points and six rebounds off the bench, while Bowers chipped in nine points and seven boards.
Eastern outrebounded UPIKE, 46-34, but turned the ball over 21 times.
Khalilah Quigley and Kelah Eldridge paced UPIKE with 17 points apiece.
UPIKE led 12-4 at the first media timeout of the game; however, a tip-in by Harper ignited the Colonels on an 18-4 run. A layup by Henshaw capped the run and gave EKU a 22-16 advantage with 8:35 on remaining in the first half.
A layup by Bowers with 7:40 on the clock gave Eastern its largest lead of the first half, 26-19, before UPIKE clawed back and pulled to within two, 33-31, on an Eldridge three-pointer right before the halftime buzzer.
The Bears took the lead, 40-39, on a jumper by Quigley less than four minutes into the second half. They led as late as the 10:42 mark of the second half. With 9:46 remaining, junior
Shameekia Murray drained a three-pointer from the top of the key to give the Colonels a 50-47 advantage. They never trailed the rest of the way.
EKU hosts Kentucky Christian on Monday, Nov. 10, at 7:00 p.m. in its final exhibition game of the season. The Colonels open the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 15, at West Virginia.
