Road Proves Too Tough For Colonel Volleyball

CHARLESTON, Ill. –
After winning two straight matches at home, Eastern Kentucky lost 3-0 at Eastern Illinois in the first of two weekend road matches.

The Panthers improved to 6-7 in the Ohio Valley Conference and 12-14 overall after winning by scores of 25-12, 25-19 and 25-20.  The Colonels drop to 9-4 against league teams and 19-12 overall.

Alexis Plagens had a team-best 16 kills for Eastern Kentucky.  Senior setter Abbey Cvelbar finished with 32 assists and a team-high 14 digs.
 
Abby Saalfrank led all players with 19 kills for Eastern Illinois.  She had just three errors in 35 attacks for a .457 hitting percentage.  Five Panthers recorded 10 or more digs led by Kelsey Brooke and Stephanie Wallace with 15 each.
 
EIU had 54 kills and just 18 errors for a team attack percentage of .290.  Meanwhile the Colonels had just 35 kills and a .171 attack percentage due in large part to 71 digs by the home team.

Eastern Kentucky plays its final regular season road match on Saturday at Southern Illinois Edwardsville.  First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.
