EUGENE, Ore. – In his final race as a Colonel, Eastern Kentucky University senior
Soufiane Bouchikhi finished 15
th in the finals of the men's 5,000 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at historic Hayward Field on Friday.
Bouchikhi will earn second team All-American honors for his performance and will finish his career at EKU as a six-time All-American. He was a two-time All-American in cross country (2012, 2013), a first team All-American in the outdoor 10,000 meters (2012), a two-time second team All-American in the outdoor 5,000 meters (2012, 2014) and a second team All-American in the indoor 5,000 meters (2012).
The native of Antwerp, Belgium covered the 5,000 meters in 14:01.48 on Friday, defeating runners from schools such as Arkansas, Indiana, Oklahoma State and Virginia Tech to achieve the top-16 finish.
Arizona's Lawi Lalang outkicked Oregon's Edward Cheserek in the final 100 meters to win with a time of 13:18.36.

Ole Hesselbjerg, will compete in the finals of the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. ET.
