EUGENE, Ore. – In his final race as a Colonel, Eastern Kentucky University senior Soufiane Bouchikhi finished 15^th in the finals of the men's 5,000 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at historic Hayward Field on Friday.
 
Bouchikhi will earn second team All-American honors for his performance and will finish his career at EKU as a six-time All-American. He was a two-time All-American in cross country (2012, 2013), a first team All-American in the outdoor 10,000 meters (2012), a two-time second team All-American in the outdoor 5,000 meters (2012, 2014) and a second team All-American in the indoor 5,000 meters (2012).
 
The native of Antwerp, Belgium covered the 5,000 meters in 14:01.48 on Friday, defeating runners from schools such as Arkansas, Indiana, Oklahoma State and Virginia Tech to achieve the top-16 finish.
 
Arizona's Lawi Lalang outkicked Oregon's Edward Cheserek in the final 100 meters to win with a time of 13:18.36.
 
Bouchikhi's teammate, junior Ole Hesselbjerg, will compete in the finals of the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. ET.
