LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The 2026 outdoor season continued for the Eastern Kentucky University track and field program at the Jim Vargo Invitational in Louisville on Saturday, with the Colonels turning in several historic performances at the meet hosted by Bellarmine.
Lexi Lawless took second in the women's discus with a personal-best throw of 42.84m, while
Kristan Simmons took third with a throw of 41.75m.
In the hammer throw,
Senda Garma took the top spot with a mark of 53.41m while Simmons took third with a throw of 50.60m, improving to second best in EKU history.
On the men's side,
Daroyce Flemons moved into second all-time at EKU in the men's hammer with a throw of 49.71m, finishing second at the meet.
Alex Camarca also earned a top-three finish in the men's javelin, going 58.30m.
Lariah Wooden threw an outdoor best in the women's shot put with a mark of 14.78m to take first in the event, while
Amya Livingston finished third overall at 12.76m.
Matt See took first for the men in the shot put, going 16.45m, sliding up to fourth all-time in the Colonel record book for the event.
On the track, Jacob Tappscott finished eighth in the men's 800m with a time of 2:00.31, while
Bryce Alan Thornsbury finished fifth in the women's 1,500m in a time of 4
:47.62.
In the men's 5,000m,
James Ndayishimiye took sixth in a time of 15:04.13.
Making her debut in the 3,000m steeplechase was
Ann Kiplagat, who finished second in 11:04.49.
