RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky women's basketball team will be on the road again this week facing Jacksonville State on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. ET.
The Colonels (8-9, 3-4 OVC) will look to continue their three-game road win streak.
EKU defeated conference rival TTU, 97-93, in double-overtime on the road last Saturday. Sophomore guard
Michaela Hunter scored a career-high 40 points and had four assists against the Golden Eagles.
Miranda Maples also recorded a career-high with 21 points and nine rebounds. The stellar performances by Hunter catapulted her in to fifth in scoring average in the OVC (15.6 points-per-game).
EKU leads the all-time series with JSU, 17-7. The Colonels have won four out of the last five in the series.
The Gamecocks are 4-4 in the OVC and 13-7 overall. They are lead by senior guard Candace Morton and junior guard Destany McLin.
Both Morton and McLin average better than 10 points-per-game and are ranked 16th and 20th in the OVC in scoring.
McLin not only ranks high in scoring in the OVC, but also ranks seventh in total rebounding with 7.8 per-game.
The Gamecocks rank third in scoring defense, allowing only 62.5 points per game, but rank eighth out of twelve in scoring offense, scoring only 65.2 points on average.
On Saturday, the Colonels will play Morehead State University at 2:00 p.m. ET in Morehead, Kentucky. The Eagles are 4-3 in conference play and 8-12 overall.
Morehead State's leader is freshman guard Eriel McKee. The breakout freshman leads the Eagles in scoring at 10.9 and grabs 9.1 rebounds
