RICHMOND, Ky. – This weekend marks the first of eight consecutive weekends of Ohio Valley Conference action for the Eastern Kentucky University softball team. The Colonels, picked third in the preseason OVC poll, start league play with a three-game series at Belmont.
 
Due to poor weather conditions in Nashville, Belmont has changed the schedule for this weekend's three games. EKU and Belmont will now play a single game on Saturday, March 14 beginning at 6 p.m. ET. The two teams will then play a doubleheader on Sunday, March 15 at 12 p.m. ET.
 
Eastern Kentucky (9-12, 0-0 OVC) will be aiming for its first OVC title since 2004. The Colonels went 15-10 in the OVC one year ago, which included two wins against Belmont (5-12). EKU is 8-1 all-time against the Bruins.
 
Belmont has struggled the last couple of weeks and has lost six straight games. The Bruins and Colonels rank 11th and 12th respectively in the OVC in hitting heading into this weekend's series.
