The Colonels head west to Las Vegas, Nevada to take part in the three-day 2015 UNLV Rebel Classic, which begins on Friday.
The weather forecast in Las Vegas this weekend calls for plentiful sunshine and highs in the low 70s.
Eastern Kentucky (9-6) enters the Rebel Classic winners of four straight and five of its last six games overall. Sophomore
Krislyn Campos, a native of Las Vegas, hit .500 last weekend at the Sand Dollar Snow Classic with a home run and three doubles. Freshman
Sarah Jackson leads the team with four home runs and 15 RBIs after hitting a pair of long balls this past weekend.
In the circle, senior
Shaylon Robb has a team-best 2.48 ERA to go along with four wins while fellow senior
Leanna Pittsenbarger has tossed two shutouts.
The opposition at the Rebel Classic will be formidable as the combined win-loss record of Eastern's five opponents is 52-40. California (17-1) heads to Las Vegas ranked No. 14 in the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball top-25 poll. Both Iowa State (11-4) and host UNLV (10-8) have double-digit wins as well.
EKU opens play in the UNLV Rebel Classic against Houston and UC Santa Barbara on Friday.
