Softball Hosts Tennessee Tech in Home Series Finale

EKU's 2015 Senior Class
THIS WEEKEND:
Eastern Kentucky (21-23, 11-7 OVC) and Tennessee Tech (26-23, 13-8) square off in the final home series for the Colonels. EKU has won six of its last seven games coming into this weekend. The two teams are fighting for a top-four spot in the upcoming OVC Tournament. The Golden Eagles are currently percentage points ahead of the Colonels for the No. 4 spot.

LIVE STATS will be available for all three games at Gertrude Hood Field this weekend. LIVE VIDEO will also be available as long as the weather cooperates. The two teams are scheduled for a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 4 p.m., and a single game on Sunday at 1 p.m.

NOTES ON THE COLONELS:
THE WEEK THAT WAS
The Colonels swept their series at UT Martin last Saturday by scores of 4-1 and 6-3. In a make-up doubleheader on Wednesday, Eastern split two games with Austin Peay. EKU lost the opener, but rebounded to win game two, 10-5.
 
ON DECK
Eastern Kentucky wraps up the regular season at Jacksonville State (30-14, 13-5) next weekend. The Gamecocks are second in conference behind SIUE.
 
SERIES HISTORY
The Golden Eagles lead the all-time series against EKU, 54-31. The Colonels have not won a regular season series against TTU since 2004.
 
THE SENIORS
Six seniors will play their final home games at Gertrude Hood Field this weekend. This year's seniors are infielders Katie Tackett, Lauren Mitchell, and Shannon McQueen, outfielder Darcy Schueler, and pitchers Shaylon Robb and Leanna Pittsenbarger. The senior class has helped the Colonels win 113 games the last four years and the 2013 OVC East Division title.
 
TACKETT LEADS TEAM IN HOME RUNS
Katie Tackett leads the Colonels and ranks fifth in the OVC with nine home runs this season. The first baseman has notched five long balls in the last eight games. Eastern is 6-2 in games where Tackett hits a home run.
 
PITTSENBARGER RACKING UP THE Ks
Leanna Pittsenbarger ranks fourth in the OVC strikeouts with 130. Her career total of 857 strikeouts is an EKU record.

MURPHY CONTINUES TO GET ON BASE
Freshman Paige Murphy is currently riding a six-game hitting streak and has reached base safely in 18 straight games. The outfielder leads the team in hitting (.325) and ranks fifth in the league in on-base percentage (.452).
