CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.— An 18-0 Austin Peay run in the second quarter separated the teams, as EKU's women's basketball team fell 94-66 in the Ohio Valley Conference opener Saturday at the Winfield Dunn Center.
 
Junior Jalen O'Bannon notched her fifth double-double of the season, scoring 19 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in the loss. Junior Michaela Hunter logged 16 points and six rebounds, while freshman Abby Wright chipped in 11 points and five rebounds.
 
The Lady Govs opened an 18-0 run in the second period, spanning 4:36 to take a 39-15 lead with under five minutes left in the opening half.
 
Eastern opened the final period on a 10-4 run, as Hunter netted six straight points for the Colonels to narrow the Austin Peay lead. However, the deficit was too much.
 
Tiasha Gray paced the Lady Govs with a game-high 21 points.
 
The Colonels (6-6) return to McBrayer Arena on Thursday in an OVC matchup against UT Martin. Thursday's game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET.
