BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – After tallying 53 points, 19 rebounds and shooting 21-of-26 (80 percent) from the field in two games last week, junior Jalen O'Bannon was named the Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week for the sixth time, the league announced on Tuesday.
 
O'Bannon posted her ninth double-double of the season in Wednesday's 72-60 win over Murray State with 25 points and 12 rebounds on 9-of-13 (69 percent) shooting. Three days later, O'Bannon finished with 28 points on 12-of-13 from the floor to go with seven rebounds against Tennessee Tech.
 
She has recorded a double-double in five of Eastern's seven OVC games and currently leads the conference, while ranking 25^th nationally in the category. Her .524 shooting percentage ranks fourth in the OVC.
 
Eastern's Crystal Jones earned the award seven times in one season, marking the most for a Colonel.
 
The Colonels (10-8, 4-3 OVC) host Jacksonville State on Wednesday. Wednesday's game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET.
