KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The EKU women's basketball team will look to get back in the win column with two games at the Plaza Lights Classic hosted by the University of Missouri Kansas City on Friday and Saturday.
The Colonels face off against Morgan State on Friday before taking on Western Michigan University on Saturday. Friday's game is scheduled for a 4:30 ET tip and Saturday's game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
EKU fell to Western Carolina University on Tuesday at McBrayer Arena. Eastern has lost its last two, after winning its season opener against Mid-American Conference member Bowling Green State University.
Senior guard Shavonate Naylor leads the Colonels' offense with 15.3 points-per-game. Naylor was tabbed Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week on Tuesday for the second consecutive week. The Ocala, Florida native is 51.4 percent from the floor through the first three games and averages 8.3 rebounds-per-game.
Morgan State (1-3) dropped Wednesday's contest in a 71-43 loss at Saint Louis University. Junior guard Braennan Farrar's 12 points-per-game leads the Bears. Farrar's five assists per contest also leads the team.
Western Michigan (1-2) pushed No. 21 Michigan State into overtime last week in a two-point loss in Kalamazoo. The Broncos dropped their most recent contest against the University of Michigan, 66-40.
WMU takes on UMKC on Friday before squaring off against the Colonels on Saturday.
Breanna Mobley is shooting better than 65 percent from the field for the Broncos. The sophomore's 14.3 ppg leads WMU.
