CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Eastern Kentucky will play its final road football game of the 2016 season on Saturday at Austin Peay in Clarksville, Tennessee.

Six of Eastern's eight Ohio Valley Conference opponents have been ranked or received votes in the national polls at some point during the 2016 season. Jacksonville State (No. 2), Tennessee State (RV) and UT Martin (RV) were ranked or receiving votes at the time they faced EKU. Tennessee Tech, Southeast Missouri and Eastern Illinois have been ranked or received votes at some point this season.
The Colonel passing attack continues to excel. EKU is second in the OVC and 16th in the nation with an average of 272.8 passing yards per game. The running game churned out 146 rushing yards against Murray State on Saturday.
Eastern's defense has registered 18 sacks in the last six games, including six at Tennessee Tech (Oct. 1) and four against Murray State (Nov. 5). The Colonels are second in the conference and 18th in the nation with an average of 2.67 sacks per game.
Redshirt junior linebacker
Jeffrey Canady had a career-high 17 tackles at Tennessee Tech and matched that with 17 against Murray State. That total is tied for the 14th most in one game by any FCS player this season. Canady is second in the OVC and eighth in the nation with an average of 11.0 tacklers per game.
Kiante Northington is sixth in the conference with 8.8 tackles per game.
Austin Peay is still looking for its first win of the season after nine games. The Governors nearly found it on Saturday at home against Tennessee State. APSU took a six-point lead with 1:05 left in the game, however the Tigers put together an 81-yard game-winning scoring drive, capping it off with a 21-yard touchdown pass with two seconds remaining for the 41-40 victory.
Austin Peay racked up a school record 644 total yards of offense against Tennessee State. Freshman quarterback JaVaughn Craig totaled five touchdowns in the contest, three of which went to junior receiver Jared Beard. Beard's final grab of the game went for a 40-yard score, putting the Governors on top 40-34.
Craig threw for 322 yards and ran for 144 on 20 carries.
The Colonels lead the all-time series 43-5 and are 20-3 against Austin Peay in Clarksville. The two teams first met on Oct. 23, 1959, a 21-7 EKU victory. Two of the Governors five victories against Eastern have come in the last seven years (2009 and 2011) and both were in Clarksville. However, the Colonels have won 27 of the last 29 against APSU. Eastern Kentucky won 51-13 last season in Richmond and has won the last four meetings by an average score of 41-8 (165-30).
