ST. LOUIS, Mo. –
Sophomore Abby Wright led the Colonels with 12 points, however, a first quarter run put the Billikens in front for good as Saint Louis University topped the EKU women's basketball team, 78-51, Saturday at Chafietz Arena.

Eight different Colonels recorded points in the loss, tying the second highest total of the season. Senior guard Alexus Cooper also finished in double digits, chipping in 11 points. Also, senior Katie Pippen recorded a season-high nine points.

The Colonels turned in a gritty, full-length effort but the Billikens' early lead proved too much to overcome.
However, EKU forced Saint Louis (7-1) into a season-high 21 turnovers. Coming into the contest, the Billikens ranked 12th in the nation in fewest turnovers-per-game (11.9).

Saint Louis (7-1)—ranked sixth in the most recent ESPN mid-major poll—scored the contest's first 15 points. Saint Louis entered Saturday's matchup connecting on 47.4 percent of the shots, ranking 26th in the country. SLU held an 11-0 lead with 7:17 left in the opening frame, after hitting four of its first five shots from the field.

EKU will host Akron University and Ohio Valley University at McBrayer Arena next weekend. The Colonels will take on the Zips on Saturday, before squaring off against the Fighting Scots on Sunday. Tips is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET both days.
