- EKU (6-4) has won four straight games and five of its last six games. The Colonels rallied in the second half for a come-from-behind 80-76 victory at Jacksonville University on Wednesday night. It was Eastern's first true road win of the season.
- Freshman guard
Asante Gist paced EKU in Jacksonville, scoring a career-high 24 points and dishing out a career-high six assists. The newcomer from New Jersey ranks 13
th in the OVC in scoring at 13.9 points-per-game. He leads all freshmen in the league in scoring, assists (3.9 assists-per-game), assists/turnover ration (1.0) and minutes played (28.6 minutes-per-game).
- Senior guard
Isaac McGlone also had a career night at Jacksonville. The native of Lancaster, Ohio pumped in a career-high 20 points. He also dished out two assists and notched a game-high three steals. McGlone ranks fifth in the OVC in three-point field goal percentage (47.1%).
- Junior forward
Zach Charles recorded his first double-double as a Colonel in the win over Jacksonville. He scored 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Charles ranks 12
th in the OVC in rebounding (7.0 rebounds-per-game).
- EKU out-rebounded JU, 31-25. The Colonels have now out-rebounded their opponent in six straight games. Eastern out-rebounded its opponent only seven times all of last season.
- Sophomore forward
Nick Mayo ranks fourth in the OVC in scoring (19.5 points-per-game). Mayo also ranks in the top-10 in the conference in three-point field goal percentage (46.7%) and free throw percentage (88.3%).
- Freshman forward
Marlon Adams made his first career start in Jacksonville. He finished with six points, three rebounds and a steal.
- EKU leads the OVC and ranks 33
rd in the country in free throw percentage (76.1%).
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- Ball State (5-4) is fresh off an 80-63 win over Bradley on Tuesday. The Cardinals also have wins over Saint Louis, Coppin State, Southern Utah and IU Kokomo this season.
- Tayler Persons leads BSU at 15.2 points-per-game.
- EKU is 7-0 all-time against Ball State. The Colonels came from behind to defeat the Cardinals, 89-81, last season at McBrayer Arena.
