CHICAGO, Ill. – The EKU softball team will hit the road to play in the Total Control Sports Invitational hosted by University of Illinois at Chicago and Loyola University this weekend.
The tournament will display 10 teams and be played indoors Feb. 19-21 at The Dome at Rosemont.
EKU (3-1) will play four games in the three-day stretch. The Colonels open the tournament against Loyola (2-1) Friday at 12:30 p.m., before squaring off against UIC (2-3) and Green Bay (2-3) on Saturday.
Eastern will conclude the tournament on Sunday with a 9:00 a.m. game against Lipscomb (1-4).
The Colonels opened their season with four games last weekend at the three-day Fairfield Inn and Suites Seahawk Softball Bash where they nearly swept the weekend, picking up three wins.
Kayla Joyce started the season by collecting the College Sports Madness Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week accolade. Joyce started all four games last weekend and batted .500 with a .714 slugging percentage and added one round-tripper, five RBIs, and three stolen bases.
