MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The EKU softball team will travel to take part in the Hornet Tournament hosted by Alabama State University this weekend.
EKU (6-2) will play four games in a two-day stretch. The Colonels begin the weekend on Friday against the University of Akron at 11 a.m. before taking on the University of Nebraska Omaha at 5 p.m.
On Saturday, EKU will begin the day against Howard University at 3 p.m. The Colonels will conclude the tournament against Gardner-Webb University at 9 p.m.
EKU is currently riding a three-game winning streak, beating the likes of the University of Illinois Chicago, Green Bay and Lipscomb at the Total Control Invitational. The Colonels outscored their opponents 28-8 in the three wins last weekend.
Freshman infielder
Hannah Clark was named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week on Monday. Clark recorded three multiple hit and RBI games last weekend. Her three-run homer against UIC helped the Colonels to an 8-5 win on Saturday.
Senior pitcher
Hayley Flynn had a season high nine strikeouts against the University of Loyola Chicago. Flynn tossed a complete game in EKU's 9-1 win over Lipscomb, along with seven strikeouts.
