Guyton To Be Inducted Into KY Pro Football Hall Of Fame

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Former Eastern Kentucky University football player and Super Bowl Champion Myron Guyton will be inducted into the Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame in June.

Guyton will become the seventh former EKU player enshrined in the Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame, joining Wally Chambers (2006), Jason Dunn (2006), John Jackson (2009), Yeremiah Bell (2010), Chad Bratzke (2013) and Aaron Jones (2015).

The ceremony will be held at the Lexington Opera House on June 24 beginning at 7 p.m.

A seven-year veteran of the National Football League, Guyton was a four-year starter in the defensive backfield for head coach Roy Kidd (1985-88).  The 2007 Eastern Kentucky University Athletics Hall of Fame inductee led the Ohio Valley Conference in interceptions during his senior year as well as leading the league in blocked kicks his final two seasons.  A team captain who earned EKU MVP honors in 1988, Guyton was chosen in the eighth round of the 1989 draft by the New York Giants.

One of only two rookies to start for Bill Parcells, the other being Lawrence Taylor, Guyton led the NFL's second-ranked defense in tackles during his rookie campaign.  In his second year with the organization, Guyton was an instrumental part of the Super Bowl Championship.  After five years with the Giants, Guyton completed his career by playing two seasons with the New England Patriots.  In 98 professional football games, Guyton made 10 interceptions.

Proceeds from the 2016 Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame Induction ceremony and golf outing will support the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club of the Bluegrass.  In addition to Guyton, the 2016 induction class will include Blanton Collier, Council Rudolph, Warren Bryant and Ray Buchanan.  Legendary Coach Howard Schnellenberger will receive the 10th annual Blanton Collier Award for Integrity.

Tickets for the ceremony will be available online in May at www.kyprofootballhof.org.
