LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The EKU softball team will look to improve its record with four games this weekend as part of the Louisville Softball Classic at Ulmer Stadium.
EKU (14-5) will take on Illinois State University on Friday in the Colonels' first game of the six team, three-day event. Friday's game is scheduled for 12 p.m.
The Colonels possess one of the Ohio Valley Conference's most productive offenses and efficient pitching staffs.
Through 19 games, EKU ranks first in team batting average (.297), runs (96), hits (147) and stolen bases (37). Senior outfielder
Kayla Joyce and junior infielder
Krislyn Campos both rank in the top-10 in the league in batting average. Joyce is hitting .417 through EKU's first 19 contests, ranking fifth in the conference. Meanwhile, Campos' .397 average at the plate ranks seventh in the category.
EKU's pitching thus far has been stellar. Senior

Alex Sallberg have combined for 136 strikeouts this season, leading the OVC and landing both among the nation's top-50 in the category.
The duo has stymied the opponents' offensive efforts, limiting opposing batters to a conference-low .216 thus far. Its combined 2.09 earned-run average is second in the league.
The Colonels will face Louisville on Saturday, before squaring off against Michigan in Sunday's first game. EKU will attempt to pick up its third win of the week over Dayton in Sunday's second game after taking both games in the Colonels' home opener on Tuesday at Gertrude Hood Field.
