Game 1 Box | Game 2 Box NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The EKU softball team cranked out 30 hits and 20 RBIs, outscoring the home standing Tigers of Tennessee State University, 22-3, in Friday's double header at Tiger Field.
EKU (17-6, 2-0 OVC) won 11-3 in the Ohio Valley Conference opener, before adding an 11-0 win in Friday's second game. EKU never trailed in either game on Friday.
The Colonels posted a season-high 10 RBIs in both games. Its 16 hits in Friday's first game marked a season-high for the Colonels and ranks fourth in the program's record book.
Meanwhile, the Colonel pitching staff limited the Tigers to a combined 10 hits on the day. Senior
Hayley Flynn logged her third complete game of the season, scattering six hits and striking out eight to pick up her 10th win of the year.

Peyton Hutchens curbed the Tennessee State offense to a mere four hits, as the Colonels cruised to an 11-run win in game two.
The Colonels plated runs in six of the seven innings of game one and held an 8-1 advantage in the top of the seventh. EKU added three runs on a three-run blast over the wall in left field by senior
Sarah Fobbs, securing the first win of the day.
EKU made quick work of TSU in Friday's second game. The Colonels led 3-0 as they took the plate in the fourth before adding five runs on six hits to take a commanding 8-0 lead.
Rachel Minogue and
Johnkyria Alston led off the inning with back-to-back singles. An RBI single from
Amber Murray drove in Minogue, before an RBI single from Joyce extended the lead to five. Murray, Joyce and Murphy also scored in the inning.
In the fifth and final inning of game two,
Sarah Jackson sent a double down the line in right field for EKU's first run of the inning. A sacrifice fly from
Krislyn Campos scored Jackson, while an RBI triple from Joyce gave the Colonels an 11-0 lead and sealed EKU's 17th win of the season.
Murphy and Joyce led the EKU offense. Both went 5-for-8 from the plate and notched five hits on Friday.
Sunday's rubber match is scheduled for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
