RICHMOND, Ky. – The Flyers of Dayton University will visit Gertrude Hood Field on Tuesday for a doubleheader as the EKU softball team hosts its home opener.
First pitch Tuesday is scheduled for 3 p.m. with the second game to follow.
EKU (12-5) totes one of the Ohio Valley Conference's most productive offenses into Tuesday's home opener. The Colonels are averaging 5.1 runs-per-game and lead the league with a .300 average at the plate. Their 87 runs scored ranks second in the conference, while its nine homeruns is good for fourth.

Kayla Joyce is leading the EKU offense, hitting .404 on the young season. She also ranks second in the OVC in hits (23).

Alex Sallberg have combined for 121 strikeouts in 100 innings which leads the OVC.
The Colonels' defense has limited the opposition's efficiency, allowing opponents' to a mere .221 at the plate. A combined earned-run average of 2.23 ranks second best in the league.
Dayton (7-6) enters Tuesday's doubleheader hitting .245 on the season led by Gabrielle Snyder's team best .444 on the year.
Admission to Tuesday's games is free. Spring posters will also be available for fans as well as a post-game autograph session with the team.
