MOREHEAD, Ky. – After winning its last eight games, the EKU softball team will travel to nearby Morehead State University for a three-game Ohio Valley Conference series this weekend at University Field.
Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start and Sunday's series finale is slated for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
EKU (23-6, 7-0 OVC) currently sits atop the OVC standings. The Colonels are coming off a 9-0 win over Northern Kentucky University in Tuesday's non-conference contest at Gertrude Hood Field.
Sophomore
Paige Murphy, junior
Krislyn Campos and senior
Kayla Joyce lead the Colonels' offensive unit that averages a league-best .324 at the plate.
Each of the three are hitting .400 or better on the year and rank in the conference's top-10 in the category, as Murphy leads the OVC with a .442 average.
Senior
Hayley Flynn and junior
Alex Sallberg have been two of the OVC's most effective pitchers thus far. The duo has combined for 189 strikeouts on the year. The Colonels lead the conference in the category with 197 total strikeouts through their first 29 games.
Morehead State (17-13, 6-1 OVC) is coming off Tuesday's doubleheader loss at Dayton. Robyn Leighton enters the weekend series hitting .413 on the season to lead the Eagles.
