Baseball Downed By Austin Peay In Series Opener

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. –
Richmond native Ben Fisher hit his sixth home run of the season, but EKU lost 10-1 at Austin Peay on Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference series opener.

Fisher's solo shot in the top of the seventh down the right field line accounted for EKU's only run of the game.  The junior finished 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
 
The Governors began to pull away in the fourth inning.  With a 3-0 lead and two outs in the bottom of the inning, Chase Hamilton hit a two-run home run over the wall in right field.  APSU added four runs in the fifth inning, two of which came home on a double by Logan Gray, to extend the lead to 9-0.
 
Gray went 4-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs scored.  Alex Robles (7-3) gave up one run on six hits in seven innings on the mound for the Governors (23-13, 13-7 OVC).  He did not walk a batter and struck out nine.
 
Jacob Nappi gave up one unearned run on three hits in three innings of relief work for Eastern Kentucky (17-22, 7-9 OVC).  He walked one and struck out six.
 
The two teams will continue the series with game two on Saturday at 2 p.m. ET.
