Box Score
RICHMOND, Ky. – Senior
Doug Teegarden notched his second home run in as many games, but that would not be enough as the EKU baseball team dropped its home finale of the season against Murray State, 14-5.
Â
The Colonels (24-28, 13-14 OVC) took the lead in the second inning when senior
Kyle Nowlin stole home. Teegarden's homer, his fifth of the season, came in the third and put EKU ahead 2-0.
Â
From there, it was all Murray State. The Racers (25-27, 13-14 OVC) scored four runs in both the fourth and fifth inning, putting them ahead 8-2.
Â
Eastern cut into the lead in the bottom of the fifth when
Cole Warrenfeltz knocked a solo shot over the right field wall, making it 8-3. That, however, was as close as the Colonels would get.
Â
The Racers added one run in the sixth, and used a three-run home run from Adam Bauer in the seventh to extend their lead to 10, 13-3. They would add a final run in the eighth, putting them ahead 14-3.
Â
The Colonels scored two in the ninth thanks to doubles by
Luke Wurzelbacher and
Kenny Hostrander.
Â
Wurzelbacher led the way for Eastern, going 2-for-2 with one RBI. Teegarden went 1-for-3 with a home run.
Â
Ramsey Scott stood out for Murray, going 3-for-4 an RBI.
Â
EKU heads down to play Tennessee Tech in the final regular season series next weekend. Game one is set for Thursday, May 19 at 7 p.m. ET.Â
