@EKUWBB Looks for Fourth Straight OVC Win

RICHMOND, Ky.  –
Behind three straight Ohio Valley Conference wins to open the season, the EKU women's basketball team will take on defending OVC Tournament Champion Belmont University Wednesday at the Curb Event Center.
 
WHAT TO KNOW
 
- The Colonels (6-10, 3-0 OVC) have won its first three conference games for the first time since the 2009-10 season when they opened league play 5-0. EKU has won its last four regular season games dating back to last season and six of its last seven.
 
- Senior Jalen O'Bannon set a new single-game free throw record, hitting 22-of-24 from the free throw line in Saturday's 88-85 overtime win against Eastern Illinois at McBrayer Arena. O'Bannon also set a new career-high with 34 points in the win.

- Junior Madison Wood set a career high in scoring for the second consecutive game, finishing with 10 points Saturday.
 
- Senior guard Katie Pippen (44.7) is second in the OVC in three-point field goal percentage. Pippen is 17-for-38 from deep this season. The Lexington, Kentucky native connected on 3-for-5 and scored a career-high 13 points in EKU's loss to Fort Wayne (Dec. 21). Meanwhile, senior guard Alexus Cooper (38.6) is eighth in the category.
 
- Belmont leads the all-time series, 13-5. The Bruins won each of the three meetings during the 2015-16 season, including a 95-63 win in the OVC Championship game.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

- Belmont enters Wednesday's showdown at 12-5 on the year and 4-0 in league play. The Bruins' 75.2 ppg leads the conference.

- Sophomore guard Darby Maggard paces the Bruins' offense with 14.0 ppg.  Her 5.0 assists-per-game rank third in the OVC and Maggard leads the league in three-point shooting (47.5 percent).
 
- As a team Belmont averages 42.7 rebounds-per-game, while holding its opponents to 31.7 rpg.

- The Colonels return to McBrayer Arena on Saturday against Tennessee State University. Saturday's tip is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET.
