MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's basketball team fell to rival Morehead State, 80-54, on Saturday night at Johnson Arena.
Two nights after pouring in a career-high 26 points at Murray State, freshman guard
Asante Gist led the Colonels again, this time with 16 points. He also dished out a team-best three assists.

Nick Mayo chipped in 14 points and five rebounds in the loss.
EKU (8-14, 1-6 OVC) stifled Morehead State to 17 percent (2-of-12) shooting from deep; however, the Eagles shot 52 percent (33-of-64) from the field and 92 percent (12-of-13) from the free throw line.
Eastern was also out-rebounded by Morehead State, 41-29.
Treshaad Williams paced five Eagles in double figures with 22 points. Miguel Dicent added 13 points and a game-best seven assists.
EKU held a one-point advantage, 13-12, following a pair of foul shots by junior forward
Zach Charles with 13:03 remaining in the first half; however, Morehead State responded with a 14-3 run and took 26-15 lead on a layup by Williams with 10:00 on the clock.
The Eagles took their largest lead of the first half, 39-24, with just under two minutes to play, but consecutive baskets by Mayo in the final minute helped the Colonels trim the deficit to 11, 41-30, at the break.
Morehead State opened the second half on an 8-1 run and grabbed a 49-31 advantage when Dicent converted a layup at the 17:32 mark. The Eagles led by double digits the rest of the way.
The Colonels stay on the road next week, playing at Jacksonville State on Thursday and at Tennessee Tech on Saturday.
