Â
-Â The two teams have split the last eight meetings.Â
Â
-Â EKU picked up a 45-21 victory in the last game played in Richmond, Oct. 24, 2015.Â
Â
- TSU won 35-28 last season in Nashville. After going into the locker room down 35-3 at halftime, the Colonels scored 25 straight points in the second half to get within a touchdown late in the fourth quarter but couldn't complete the comeback. EKU turned the ball over on each of its first three possessions of the game, and Tennessee State turned those turnovers into a 21-0 lead.
Â
THE COLONELS
- Eastern Kentucky (1-3, 1-1 OVC) suffered a 29-10 loss at Southeast Missouri this past Saturday. The Colonels came up empty on two trips inside the red zone on their first two possessions, and then had to play from behind after the Redhawks built a 20-0 lead.
Â
-Â After allowing WKU to convert 10-of-17 third down attempts in the season opener (58.8 percent), Eastern's defense held its last three opponents to 37 percent third down conversion rate (16-of-43).
Â
- EKU entered its game at Southeast Missouri having forced twice as many turnovers as it had committed (6 to 3). However, the Colonels gave the ball up four times and did not force any turnovers. Eastern went from +3 to -1 for the season. Eastern forced five turnovers in its win at home over Tennessee Tech (Sept. 23).
Â
-Â Senior
Ryan Markush caught four passes for 122 yards at Southeast Missouri, his second 100-yard receiving game in four games this season.
Â

Â
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

Â
-Â TSU has allowed just 17.6 points per game this season, but the offense is averaging only 18 points.
Â
- The Tiger defense has limited opponents to 263 yards per game, including just 99 rushing yards per game. Both of those rank second in the conference. Tennessee State ranks 10th in the nation in yards allowed per game.
Â
- Tennessee State has turned the ball over nine times and has forced seven turnovers. Seven of TSU's turnovers have been fumbles, the Tigers are first in the OVC and 13th in the nation for fewest interceptions thrown (2).
Â
- Treon Harris leads the team in passing and rushing. The redshirt junior has completed 56 percent of his passes for 671 yards (134.2 ypg) and has thrown two touchdown passes. He has rushed for 311 yards (62.2 ypg) and scored three touchdowns on the ground. He averages 6.1 yards per carry.
Â
