RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team will travel to take on the Akron Zips on Wednesday. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.

The Colonels (2-1, 0-0 OVC) won their home-opening game against UNC Greensboro, 70-59 this past Saturday.

Eastern shot a season-high 48 percent against a UNC Greensboro defense that came into the game leading the country in field goal percentage defense (26 percent).

A'Queen Hayes scored a career-high 23 points on 10-of-16 shooting. The Ole Miss transfer also dished out a career-high six assists and grabbed six rebounds.

Abby Wright tied her previous career-high of 19 points against UNC Greensboro on 6-of-11 shooting. She also dished out a career-high five assists and came away with three rebounds and two steals.

The series between the Colonels and the Zips is tied at 5-5. Last season, Eastern played Akron for the first time since 1986, where Eastern fell 63-57 in Richmond.
