EKU Looks to End Belmont's Unbeaten Streak Wednesday

RICHMOND, Ky.  – The EKU women's basketball team will look to improve its home conference record to 6-1 as it hosts conference front runner Belmont University Wednesday.
 
Wednesday's tip is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Wednesday's game is a 'Pink Out!' FREE pink t-shirts will be available while supplies last. The Madison County Breast Cancer Group will be honored at halftime.

WHAT TO KNOW

 
- The Colonels are coming off a 65-58 win over Morehead State on Saturday. Four Colonels scored in double digits for EKU for the second consecutive game.

- Eastern was +16 in rebounding against the Eagles, marking the largest margin on the boards for the Colonels this season.  
 
- Senior Shavontae Naylor was voted OVC Newcomer of the Week for the fourth time after averaging 16.5 points-per-game and 7.5 rebounds-per-game last week for the Colonels.

- Seniors Jalen O'Bannon (13.4), Alexus Cooper (12.8) and Naylor (12.2) rank in the league's top-20 in scoring. Cooper is 35.1 percent from deep on the year good for 11th in the league. The Colonels are second in the OVC in turnover margin (+1.6).
 
- Belmont leads the all-time series, 14-5. The Bruins have won six straight and seven of the last eight over the Colonels.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

- Belmont (21-5, 13-0 OVC) has won its last 19 conference games dating back to last season. The Bruins' last regular season conference loss came at UT Martin on Feb.15, 2016, 81-79.
 
- Sophomore guard Darby Maggard leads the Bruins' offense with 14.5 ppg. Maggard leads the OVC and is second in the nation in three-point field goals made (92), three-point field goals per game (3.54), and three-point field goal percentage (50.3).
 
- Belmont averages a league best 76.3 ppg. The Bruins enter Wednesday's matchup shooting 45.5 percent from the floor which leads the conference.

- The Colonels travel to Tennessee State Saturday to take on the Lady Tigers. Saturday's tip is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from the Gentry Center.
