LEXINGTON, Ky. – Sophomore
Alex Holderbach doubled in a run in the bottom of the eighth to send the Eastern Kentucky University baseball team to a 2-1 win over Oakland University on Saturday at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in Lexington, Kentucky.
After having beaten the Golden Grizzlies 3-2 on Friday, the Colonels have secured the series victory.
With
Ben Fisher on second and two outs in the bottom of the eighth, Holderbach drove a ball to left center to plate what proved to be the winning run.
"
Alex Holderbach came up with a big hit to put us up late in the game," said Eastern Kentucky Head Coach
Edwin Thompson. "It was exciting to see the guys find ways to get it done when we needed to. The first series win of the season is really exciting."
Alex Hamilton (1-0), who was stellar in relief, retired the side in order in the top of the ninth to secure the victory. He tossed four and one-third innings without allowing a run. The senior gave up three hits, walked two and struck out six.
Oakland broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fifth on a RBI single to center by Zach Sterry. Starter

Ochsenbein allowed just one run on seven hits while throwing four and two-thirds innings. He walked three and struck out three.
"We really tip our cap to them, they're a really good ball club," said Thompson. "I'm really proud of
