EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. –
Ben Fisher blasted his NCAA leading 16th home run of the season, but the Eastern Kentucky University baseball team could not capitalize on it as it fell to the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Cougars, 11-2, on Saturday.

EKU (18-14, 4-7 OVC) took the lead in the top of the first when Fisher homered over the left field wall, bringing
Nick Howie home from first.

After scoring a run in the bottom of the first, SIUE (17-13, 6-8 OVC) took control of the game in the third inning, scoring two more runs to take the lead. The Cougars added another run in the fourth, then seven runs combined in the sixth and seventh innings to ensure the 11-2 loss for EKU.

Fisher and
Daniel McFarland led the way for Eastern, each going 2-for-4 on the day. Fisher and Howie scored a run each.

Jared McCunn and Mario Tursi both went 2-for-5 with a home run each for SIUE. Brock Fulkerson pitched a complete game for the Cougars, only allowing two runs in his nine innings on the mound.

The Colonels return to action tomorrow for the series finale against SIUE. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.Â
