RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University track star
Jamaine Coleman took bronze in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase at the European U-23 Championships on Sunday in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

Representing his native Great Britain, Coleman edged Finland's Topi Raitanen at the line to finish third in a time of 8:40.4.

Italians Yohanes Chiappinelli (8:34.3) and Ahmed Abdelwahed (8:37.0) earned gold and silver in the race.

The bronze medal is the culmination of a breakout track season for the rising senior from Preston, England. Coleman emerged as one of the top steeplechasers in the NCAA this past spring. He ran 8:34.3 at the East Region Preliminaries in Lexington, and then earned second team All-America honors after finishing 13
th in the event at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

Coleman was voted the OVC Male Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year in May, and he won OVC gold in the steeplechase, 1,500 meters and indoor mile last season.
