EKU Battles Chattanooga to Scoreless Draw

Box Score (PDF)

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.
– The Eastern Kentucky University soccer team battled Chattanooga to a scoreless draw on a hot Sunday afternoon at Finley Stadium.

Two days after scoring three goals in a win over Austin Peay, UTC (1-0-1) was stifled by the EKU defense. Senior goalkeeper Anna Hall made three saves to earn her first clean sheet of the season, and the 17th of her career. Junior defenders Kacy Eckley and Haley Kemper played all 110 minutes of the double-overtime match.

EKU (0-1-1) tallied four shots on goal, compared to just three for the host Mocs. Senior forward Jordan Foster led EKU with four shots, while freshman defender Katie Shaffer and senior forward Emmi Carroll each contributed two.

With one second on the clock in the second overtime, Hall prevented a goal by Chattanooga's Jordan Mueller that would have clinched the Mocs' second win of the season.

On Thursday, Eastern will travel to Lexington to take on the University of Kentucky Wildcats. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
