RICHMOND, Ky. –
After beginning Ohio Valley Conference play with a home field victory, the Eastern Kentucky football team will take to the road to face Southeast Missouri on Saturday.
 
Kickoff in Cape Girardeau is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.

INSIDE THE SERIES
-  EKU leads the all-time series 24-3.  The Colonels are 12-1 against the Redhawks in games played in Cape Girardeau. 
 
-  The Colonels have won 12 of the last 13 meetings between the two teams. 
 
-  Eastern Kentucky has won six straight against the Redhawks by an average score of 32-13.  Last season, Eastern picked up a 31-16 victory in Richmond.  Ethan Thomas rushed for 92 yards and Ryan Markush caught four passes for 57 yards.  EKU registered three sacks and did not allow any. 
 
THE COLONELS
-  The Colonels opened conference play with a 24-21 victory at home over Tennessee Tech.
 
-  Safety Kobie Grace was chosen as the STATS National Defensive Player of the Week.  The senior finished with seven tackles, one interception, one forced fumble and two fumbles recovered in Eastern's win over Tech.
 
-  Grace was also chosen as the Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week and earned Madness Ohio Valley Defensive Player of the Week honors from College Sports Madness.
 
-  Punter Keith Wrzuszczak was chosen as the OVC Specialist of the Week.  In the win over TTU, Wrzuszczak punted the ball nine times for an average of 48.1 yards per punt.  The senior boomed a career-best 76-yard punt and had three of 50 or more yards.
 
-  Eastern forced five turnovers in its win over Tennessee Tech.  The Colonels have now forced twice as many turnovers as they have given up this season (6 to 3).  EKU leads the OVC and is 15th in the nation in turnover margin (1.00/game).  The Colonels are first in the OVC and 14th in the country with just three turnovers lost this season.
 
-  Eastern's nine sacks this season (3.0 per game) ranks first in the conference and 17th in the nation.  EKU has only allowed two sacks, which is the ninth fewest in the nation.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Southeast Missouri is 0-4 this season and 0-1 in conference play.  The Redhawks have lost to Kansas, Dayton, Southern Illinois and Eastern Illinois.
 
-  Southeast dropped its OVC opener, 19-16, at Eastern Illinois on Saturday.  The Redhawks trailed by three and had the ball at the EIU 16 yard line when Bradley Dewberry intercepted Jesse Hosket's pass at the one yard line with 23 seconds left to play.  It was the second game Southeast lost after throwing an interception when down three points or less with under a minute remaining.
 
-  Kristian Wilkerson had seven catches for a career-high 134 yards at Eastern Illinois.
 
-  SEMO is averaging 18 points per game.  The Redhawks are averaging 209 passing yards per game and 109 rushing yards.  .
 
-  Southeast has turned the ball over 10 times, while forcing only six turnovers.
 
-  The Redhawks have converted just 29 percent of their third downs.

-  The Colonels will be back home on Oct. 7 to face Tennessee State University.
