LEXINGTON, Ky. – After nearly clinching two-of-three doubles matches the Eastern Kentucky University men's tennis team fell, 7-0, to the University of Kentucky Friday afternoon at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex.

To open the match, the Wildcats (2-0) battled
Ramon van Flymen and
Gabriel Ruiz at No. 1 doubles and clinched the doubles point, 6-4.
Guillem Sanchis and
Carlos Dodero teamed up to take on Kentucky's Trey Yates and Gus Benson at No. 2 doubles. The duo fell, 7-6 (7-4). Â

Ruiz faced Benson in No. 4 singles for a first set showdown. The two took turns exchanging blows, pushing the first set score to 7-5. Ruiz fell in set two, 6-2.

The Colonels (0-3) will be back in action Jan. 27 as they take on the University of the Cumberlands at 10 a.m. followed by Northern Kentucky at 2 p.m. for a doubleheader home opener at the Greg Adams Indoor Tennis Center.
